Speaker Urges Parliamentary Committee to Accelerate Legislative Work

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, held a meeting with the parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs, Regional Administrations and Security to discuss accelerating its legislative and oversight responsibilities.

The meeting focused on strengthening the committee’s work in legislation, oversight and accountability of government institutions responsible for internal affairs, security and immigration, with an emphasis on transparency, accountability and good governance.

Speaker Abdulkadir urged the committee to expedite the completion of draft legislation currently under its consideration so that it can be presented before the House of the People.

He also called on the committee to align its working procedures with the recently introduced modernisation and development system for parliamentary operations.
