SoDMA, UN Officials Meet in Mogadishu to Strengthen Humanitarian Coordination

The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahamuud Moallim Abdulle, alongside the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs for South West State, held a strategic meeting with George Conway, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia.
The discussions centered on the critical need for collaborative and coordinated efforts among SoDMA, humanitarian agencies, the Federal Government, and Federal Member States to protect vulnerable communities and mitigate the impact of potential flooding.
Strong emphasis was placed on implementing proactive measures, including Early Action and Anticipatory Action strategies, designed to minimize flood-related losses and safeguard populations before disasters occur.
Concluding the meeting, SoDMA Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim Abdulle underscored that foreseeable risks can only be mitigated through unified action and immediate, synchronized cooperation across all levels of governance and humanitarian partnership.
