Ministry of Information Mourns Death of Veteran Journalist Mohamed Aweys Muudey

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abulfatah Qasim Mohamud, the Deputy Minister, H.E. Abdirahman Yusuf Omar (Al-Adala), the Director General, H.E. Abdullahi Hayir Duale, directors of departments and staff of the Ministry have extended their condolences to the family, relatives and colleagues of veteran journalist Mohamed Aweys Muudey, popularly known as “Boqorka Bartamaha.”
The veteran journalist was a long-serving member of Somalia’s National Media, having worked in the sector both before and after the collapse of the Somali state.
According to the Ministry, Mohamed Aweys Muudey was killed in Germany, where he had been living in recent years. The Ministry said initial information indicated that he was fatally attacked by a man armed with a knife.
Minister H.E. Abulfatah Qasim expressed deep sorrow over the death and offered condolences to the deceased’s family, relatives, members of the Somali media fraternity and the wider Somali community.
The Minister prayed to Allah SWT to grant the late Mohamed Aweys Muudey Jannatul Firdowsa and to give his family, relatives, colleagues and all those affected by his death patience and strength.
