SoDMA Deputy Commissioner Opens Anticipatory Action Working Group Meeting

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, opened the 2026 Third Quarter Meeting of the National Technical Working Group on Anticipatory Action (NTWGAA) in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on strengthening coordination and developing practical anticipatory action plans to reduce the impact of disasters and protect vulnerable communities.

The quarterly meeting brought together government institutions, international and local organizations, and experts working on disaster risk management and anticipatory action.

The Director of SoDMA’s Disaster Risk Management Department, Mr. khadar Sh. Mohamed Nur, who led the meeting, emphasized the importance of strengthening national plans and anticipatory measures.

Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan stressed the need for stronger institutional collaboration and effective preparedness measures to enable timely action before disasters strike.
